Get Out of Your Own Way
So often we are sabotaging ourselves by being in our own way without even know we are doing so.

When you find yourself facing obstacles that appear to be blocking you from your goals, it is important to try not to get discouraged. It can be easy to feel “stuck” or that “life” is creating circumstances preventing you from getting what you want. And while it is easy to look at everyone and everything outside of ourselves for the problem, perhaps even wanting to “get rid” of the person, object, or circumstance we may feel is blocking us, sometimes the best course of action to take may be to look inside ourselves first.

It is amazing how often we can get in our own way without even being aware that we are doing so. Even though we truly want to succeed, there are many reasons why we may sometimes block our own efforts. It may be that we are afraid to succeed, so we subconsciously create circumstances to keep ourselves stuck. Or it may even be that we are afraid that we will succeed, so we block ourselves by making the achievement of our goals more difficult than they really are. We may even approach our goals in a way that keeps creating the same unsuccessful results.

If you believe that you’ve been standing in your own way, you may want to take a piece of paper and record how you’ve done so. Write down the choices you’ve made that have hindered your efforts and the fears that may have prompted you to make these decisions. Take note of any thoughts and feelings that arise. It is important to be gentle and compassionate during this process. Try not to blame yourself for getting in your own way. Remember the choices we make always are there to serve us, until it is time to let them go. When you are finished, throw the paper away while setting an intention that you are getting rid of any obstacles you’ve created to block yourself. You can then let yourself start again with a clean slate. Doubts and fears are going to be natural, but with this new awareness, you should be able to prevent yourself from subconsciously thwarting yourself. Besides, now that you’ve decided to get out of your own way, the part of you that has always wanted to succ! eed can now do so.

Oh, I Design Nusery Make Over

Re-post from one of our favorite bloggers, Jessica Packard "Oh, I Design". Check out the before and afters of Gracey's new nursery!
"There’s something about completing a room that makes my design-loving heart go pitter patter. It’s a great feeling of accomplishment. I recently had the pleasure of designing a nursery for a new friend in Del Mar, California. Jenny Livits is the Founder & CEO of a Wardrobe Design & Styling Boutique called Pink Lagoon.
Jenny was getting ready to have her second little one when she contacted me about getting some design help with her nursery/guest room and other areas of her home. She is a creative, talented and very motivated. Not only has become a business mentor to me but also a good friend. We could sit for hours chatting about how we believe great design can change the world.
Here are some before and after photos of her lovely nursery. Baby Gracey was born just a few weeks ago and they are really enjoying their new space together. "- Jessica

PL Happening: Favorite New Merch Items

We love this retro boho inspired dress by Minnie Rose paired with an adorable crochet vest by 27 miles. We recommend this with a sandal to complete the fun summer look!

The art of finding both comfort and style wrapped up in one. Our answer..the poncho! This amazing poncho that buttons down the back is by 27 miles and looks great with white jeans and a neutral sandal.

This season less is more, as seen by the minimalist trends all over the runways. This all black top with white detailing on the sleeve by Whetherly captures the look perfectly. We recommend with these sand colored trousers and a heel to complete this simple classy look!

Daily Om: Going With the Flow

Going with the Flow
Working with a Larger Energy
Going with the flow means we are open to multiple ways of getting where we want to be.

The expression going with the flow is a metaphor that applies to navigating a river. When we go with the flow, we follow the current of the river rather than push against it. People who go with the flow may be interpreted as lazy or passive, but to truly go with the flow requires awareness, presence, and the ability to blend one’s own energy with the prevailing energy. Going with the flow doesn’t mean we toss our oars into the water and kick back in the boat, hoping for the best. Going with the flow means we let go of our individual agenda and notice the play of energy all around us. We tap into that energy and flow with it, which gets us going where we need to go a whole lot faster than resistance will.

Going with the flow doesn’t mean that we don’t know where we’re going; it means that we are open to multiple ways of getting there. We are also open to changing our destination, clinging more to the essence of our goal than to the particulars. We acknowledge that letting go and modifying our plans is part of the process. Going with the flow means that we are aware of an energy that is larger than our small selves and we are open to working with it, not against it.

Many of us are afraid of going with the flow because we don’t trust that we will get where we want to go if we do. This causes us to cling to plans that aren’t working, stick to routes that are obstructed, and obsess over relationships that aren’t fulfilling. When you find yourself stuck in these kinds of patterns, do yourself a favor and open to the flow of what is rather than resisting it. Trust that the big river of your life has a plan for you and let it carry you onward. Throw overboard those things that are weighing you down. Be open to revising your maps. Take a deep breath and move into the current.
