Out and about in West Hollywood today with Katie, who is looking adorable in these simple cut off shorts, light sweater, bowler hat and scarf! 

We came accross our favorite Cafe, Cafe Gratitude, in Hollwyood. All meals are vegan and gluten free! We never leave this restaurant without feeling refreshed, healthy and alive :)

Our favorite meal from Gratitude called, "I am Whole"; a wholesome combination of quinoa, seaweed, kale, black beans, squash,sprouts,almonds and other healthy veggies to properly fuel our systems! 

Inspiration: Artists We Love

Nica Ferguson is an abstract painter and filmmaker. She studied art in the Masters program at UCSD, and has worked for HBO on series and films in Rome, London, Virginia and Los Angeles. Her films have received recognition at numerous international film festivals, and she is the recipient of the Mèdailles d’Honneur de la Ville de Bruxelles.  Her artwork is informed by her years living in Italy, and recall the abstract Color Field paintings of the 1960s. Themes of memory and geography are explored in the intersection of light and heavy strokes, and pure opaque pigment against faded tint.  Her latest series of paintings, Ricordi di Roma  (Roman Memories) invoke the dialectics of such personal and social memory; a visualization of the space between time and culture, earth and sky. Her paintings have been shown in Los Angeles at The Mandrake; The Writers Junction; Kao Pao Shu Showroom; Alexander Salazar Fine Art, Pink Lagoon, Blended Industries, various art shows, and her own gallery, Del Covo Contemporary, located at 1264 Prospect Street in La Jolla.

Health: Almond Crusted Salmon with Carmalized Onions and Basil

Ingredients: 

• 1/2 tablespoon butter
• 1/2 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil, divided
• 1 sweet onion, thinly sliced
• Salt and pepper, to taste
• 1/2 teaspoon lime juice
• 1/2 cup almond meal
• 4 teaspoons honey mustard or sweet prepared mustard
• 4 (4- to 6-ounce) skinless salmon fillets, skin removed
• 1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions
• 1/4 cup basil leaves
• Method: 

  Heat butter and 1/2 tablespoon of the oil in a large skillet over medium low heat. Add onion, salt and pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and caramelized, 30 to 45 minutes. Stir in lime juice and keep warm. 
  
  Meanwhile, preheat oven to 375ºF. Grease the bottom of a large baking dish with remaining 1 teaspoon oil. Put almond meal into a wide, shallow dish and season salmon with salt and pepper. Brush the top of each salmon fillet with mustard and then roll in almond meal, pressing to make sure it sticks. Arrange salmon in prepared baking dish in a single layer and bake until just cooked through and flesh flakes with a fork, about 15 minutes. 
  
  Transfer salmon to plates, top with caramelized onions, garnish with green onions and basil and serve.
